5 Ways to Prepare for a Doctor’s Appointment

January 11, 2012

Doctor’s appointments cause stress, there’s no question about it. Perhaps you’re running late, stuck in traffic, or can’t find the building or suite. When you finally make it there, the doctor may be running late, and during the time you have to wait, you might forget all the questions you wanted to ask. Here are a few helpful ways to keep the stress down and get what you want and need out of a visit with your doctor from the staff at Silverman Ankle & Foot.

  1. Block out enough time. Be sure to account for travel, check-in (15 min), the appointment itself (45 min), and the potential of the doctor running late because of an emergency (additional hour)
  2. Look up driving directions and the suite number to avoid confusion and stress
  3. Fill out paperwork before arrival or online
  4. Be prepared to ask your doctor any questions you may have. Write them down beforehand so you don’t forget
  5. If you have access to the Internet, look up your doctor’s bio so you know what to expect

If you have more questions about your doctor’s appointment don’t hesitate to contact our office at (952) 920-4333 ext. 5.
